Lewis Edward Folker, known as Edward, was born in Ingoldisthorpe on 5 August 1871. His father's name was not registered but Mary Ann had been working as a Dairymaid at Narburgh Hall which was owned by John Lewis Marriott. Also, the Footman was named Lewis Spooner. The census of 1881 shows Edward living in Ingoldisthorpe with his widowed grandmother Mary Ann Folker and her brother Timothy Bird. It is said that he was in Hillinton Hall at some time, possibly as an orphan. He became a Blacksmith in Kings Lynn and that was his profession when 1891 the census found him visiting William Back in that town. He was living in Terrington when, on 24 January 1897, he married Emma Gent. The certificate gave his father as Lewis Edward Folker, a Gentleman's Servant, and Lewis explained this mistake as due to the Vicar being drunk.

Their first son, Albert Edward, was born in Terrington in 1897. Ernest was born in Kings Lynn in 1898 but died as an infant. Grace Emma was born in Kings Lynn in 1899 as shown on the census of 1891 which also recorded Emma's mother living with them in Bentink Street. Annie Maud was born in 1901 then George Reginald in 1904 after which the family moved to Peterborough. Louis Sidney was born in 1906, Nellie Ada in 1907 and Elsie May in 1909. The census of 1911 shows the family living at 135 Aldermans Drive, Peterborough and Edward now working as a Blacksmith making wheels at the London & North Eastern Railway engineering works. The following year, the family address was listed as 137 Aldermans Drive, Peterborough. Twins Percy John and Walter Henry were born in 1914 then David Gordon in 1916. By the mid 1920's Edward had been promoted to be a Foreman Blacksmith and his address remained as 137 Aldermans Drive.

Edward was described as very literate and that is confirmed by his handwriting on the 1911 census return form. He wore a tie and stiff collar and rode to work in Peterborough on a bicycle. He worked for several years as a Market Gardener in Fulbridge Road, but it is not known when. He passed away on 1 January 1938 at which time his address was 48 Fulbridge Road, Peterborough. His Will was proved on 19 March that year. His wife Emma had moved to 172 Mayors Walk in Peterborough by 1940 and that was her address when she died on 29 December 1950. Her Will was proved on 5 February 1951.
