John de Folcur

Descendant chart Descendants names Primary family groups

John de Folcur is the earliest known ancestor of the Folker family. He married Beatrix de Sparham, daughter of William of the well established de Sparham family. Their grandson, William Folcar, married Ann Shepherd and they had son Richard after which the line disappears. It is believed that during the period of religeous persecution in England, the Folcar and Shepherd families took refuge in Holland.

A bond between the Folcar and Shepherd families appears to have remained after their return to England, and another marriage took place between the families in 1784. That bond was later recognised by the creation of a coat of Arms.
